Vintage Stony- A new year tradition in aid of Willen Hospice
December 28, 2022
For 13 years now, Stony Stratford has welcomed vintage car and motorcycle enthusiasts to the town in the summer for Classic Stony and on New Year’s Day for the Vintage Stony festival.
The event, which is one of the largest of its kind in the region, is run entirely by volunteers and together with the Classic Stony event have raised nearly £100,00 for Willen Hospice.
Last year, the New Year’s Day event raised an incredible £7100 for the Hospice which goes a long way to helping us to care for those with life-limiting illnesses in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas.
While many places will be closed on the first day of 2023, Stony will be a hive of activity with many pubs, cafes and shops opening for visitors, including the Willen Hospice shop and Bookshop. Marshalls from nearby Silverstone has been drafted in and vehicles from around the UK will be proudly on display.
If you haven’t visited before, pre-war vintage cars will be on display at Market Place where the main events take place and post-war vehicles and motorcycles can be found on the high street and across the town.
The event begins at 9:30am and runs until 2pm and throughout the day the fabulous team have lots planned to keep us entertained, including an awards ceremony at 12:30pm.
This year, in order to recognise your kind donations, every visitor who donates to Willen Hospice will also receive a sticker. The idea is thanks to supporter Michael and his family who has covered the printing costs himself. Thank you so very much, Michael.
As the car enthusiasts amongst us will know, it’s not just about looking under the bonnet or seeing the love and hard work of the proud vehicle owners, it’s about hearing the roar of the engines!
Make sure you’re around at Midday in Market Square as those engines ring in the New Year with “one minutes noise”.
This year’s “one minutes noise” will honour two supporters and friends of the event who are sadly missed within our community. Simon Diffey, a local race car driver and Richard Odell, of Odell’s Ironmongers in the town.
We are immensely proud to be the chosen charity for this amazing free family event, the commitment and dedication we see year on year from the team is second to none.

We can only provide the care we do thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, through their continued volunteering, fundraising and donations throughout the year. Your donation will enable us to continue providing care and support to those facing a life-limiting diagnosis, and to support their loved ones.
