Collections at funerals

You may prefer to ask friends and relatives to make a donation in lieu of flowers, at your loved one’s funeral service, to support the work of Willen Hospice.

Giving a gift is a meaningful tribute to the life of someone special, and a fitting way to honour their memory.

“All gifts will really help us to continue to give the best possible care to patients and families going through the hardest time of their lives. Thank you so much for your support.” – Peta Wilkinson, CEO, Willen Hospice

We understand that some funeral directors are not collecting cash donations at present, so if people wish to give in other ways here are some options below. You can collect donations or ask people to give individually.

Please ask anyone who donates to use the name of the deceased person as a reference, preceded by ‘In memory’.

Setting up a Tribute Page

You might be interested in setting up a Tribute Page, where you can share photos and memories, send to friends and family, people can donate to the hospice and you can even light virtual candles for special occasions and anniversaries. It is really easy to set up and it only takes a few minutes.

Please email our Supporter Services team at or call 01908 303050 between 9am and 2:30pm, Monday to Friday, if anything is unclear or if you need help in any other way. We understand that this is a very difficult time and want to help you in any way we can.

Willen Hospice’s care touches thousands of local people every year. We give comfort, ease pain and reduce anxiety for patients and their loved ones. Every pound given makes a difference – as it enables us to do more for more people across Milton Keynes when and where they need us. Less than a quarter of our funding comes from the NHS, which means the rest is donated or fundraised for by amazing local people. Which is why your support is so important and so appreciated – from everyone we help, thank you.

In a typical year...
our cost, per minute
phone calls to patients at home
fabulous volunteers
patients cared for at home
home visits
patients at the hospice
of cups of tea
counselling sessions
We can only provide the care we do thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, through their continued volunteering, fundraising and donations throughout the year. Your donation will enable us to continue providing care and support to those facing a life-limiting diagnosis, and to support their loved ones.
